SACSCOC Revisits Quality Enhancement Plan Requirement
In preparation for the College’s 2024 decennial reaffirmation, a proposed Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) was developed pursuant to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) standard 7.2. Seasoned faculty member Raquel Adams led the effort along with our Southwest QEP Committee. Earlier this year, SACSCOC reviewers approved the QEP, and Director Adams began moving the plan forward.
We recently learned that SACSCOC made the decision to pause QEP requirements. For institutions such as Southwest that were actively advancing a QEP, this means that the requirement is suspended.
The College will continue to advance important, meaningful plans calculated to assist our students. We are excited about the strategic plan we are creating and the promise it holds! As you are aware, the title of the plan is 'Pathways to Prosperity: Reform 3.0.' The overarching goal of the plan is to decrease poverty through education by: 1) strengthening our workforce programs; and 2) increasing the number of Southwest students who go on to attain a bachelor's degree.
For more information about our strategic planning efforts, please review the President’s white paper and other resources on our strategic planning webpage.
We extend thanks to Raquel Adams for stepping up to serve as our QEP Director and for the great work she does for our students. Thank you to the QEP Committee, staff and faculty members who also supported the QEP required by SACSCOC. We look forward to your ongoing engagement, energy, and enthusiasm as we continue to support our students and our community as a whole.
