Southwest students were honored this fall with induction into the National Society of Leadership and Success, the nation’s largest leadership honor society. The recognition highlights academic excellence, leadership potential and a commitment to personal growth and community impact.
Southwest launched its chapter of NSLS in 2020, and since then, 471 students have earned the distinction. NSLS honors excellence by providing members with access to a five-step leadership program, where students develop skills that drive their success beyond the classroom and into their next life phase as professional or student leaders.
This year, 23 students completed the rigorous leadership development program and joined the national network of changemakers. The newest inductees are: Nagi Al-Hadai, Candace Brooks, Zaniya Brown, Lashawndra Carter, Precious Cash, Tormeria Childs, Brittney Clay, Eryn Davis, Naina Maria Deepak, Ayden Fields, Aimee Fuller, Jamaryea Garner, Farrah Gomez, Dominique Ivy, Skarleth Martinez, Ciara Mckinnie, Destiny Milton, Tya Mosley, Joshua Petty, DellaReese Russell, Monisha Taylor, Lavearn Van Rensalier, and Cornisha Walls.

knowledge.
Alma Rutledge, interim associate vice president for student success and experience, congratulated the inductees and encouraged them to reflect on whom they will bring with them on their leadership journey. She urged students to explore, ask questions, and “soak up as much knowledge as possible while having fun along the way.”
The National Society of Leadership and Success continues to grow at Southwest, adding to the college’s legacy of developing leaders who make an impact on campus and in their communities.
