POLICY MATTERS: SACSCOC to visit Southwest for reaffirmation evaluation

POLICY MATTERS: SACSCOC to visit Southwest for reaffirmation evaluationThe Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is an organization that accredits colleges in Southern states, including Southwest. Periodically, SACSCOC representatives visit and evaluate colleges. Next year they will visit Southwest for the College’s 10-year reaffirmation evaluation.

We are excited to share with SACSCOC the great work we are doing at Southwest! As our mission statement says, we are preparing students for the demands of an evolving marketplace as we change and adapt to uplift our students and serve our community.

Some resources we use to guide our work are Southwest policies and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies. Both are easily accessible online. Because TBR is our governing body, we abide by its policies. We have the authority to create Southwest policies that complement TBR regulations but, they cannot contradict them. We appreciate the foundation provided by TBR regulations and will continue to build upon them as we advance our Southwest mission.

More SACSCOC and policy updates to come after the winter break.

Happy Holidays!
