Human Resources to kick-off employee experience, redesign
Faculty and staff can expect a “new employee experience” this year, according to plans unveiled by Human Resources Department Associate Vice President Iliana Ricelli at the 2019 fall convocation. The department’s Big Audacious Goal: Part 2 kicked-off last month and is designed to make Southwest the employer of choice in Memphis.
The goal of Part 2 will focus on 3 R’s—to recruit, retain, and help employees prepare for retirement. To accomplish this goal, participation is critical across the College. The department is asking faculty and staff to help in the redesign process by volunteering for one of the committees listed below.
Recruiting Talent and Employment Process - Phoenix Worthy, Chair
The work of the Recruiting Talent and Employment Process Committee is to develop strategies
for attracting quality applicants and implementing streamlined practices for hiring
employees on campus.
Professional Career Development, Succession Planning - Jennifer Townes, Chair
The work of the Professional Career Development, Succession Planning Committee is
to develop programs, workshops and training initiatives that will assist in identifying
steps necessary for employees to increase knowledge, skills, abilities and develop
a pathway for growing their careers at Southwest.
Position Descriptions, Performance Evaluations - Janet Sykes, Chair
The work of the Position Descriptions, Performance Evaluations committee is to create
processes for developing useful, compliant job descriptions and maximizing the performance
evaluation process to provide feedback, coaching and counseling to employees.
On-boarding, Off-boarding, Retirement - Thomas Cole, Chair
The work of the On-boarding, Off-boarding, Retirement committee is to create robust
processes and programs that engage new employees in Southwest’s culture of excellence
and community. They will review the entire lifecycle of the employee, from recruitment
to retention to retirement, and develop initiatives for every employee to get involved
and become an active, contributing member of the College.
