Southwest Honors alumna Shannel Runkle
In this month’s issue of Scoop, we celebrate and spotlight Shannel Runkle, a Southwest alumna who graduated with an A.S. in Parallel College of Arts/Sciences, General Studies in fall 2021. Runkle currently works at FedEx in the Supply Chain division as a Team Coordinator. She previously served in the U.S. military as a marine. Fun fact about Runkle, she considers herself an overachiever who gets the job done.
Runkle said her time at Southwest not only prepared her with the skills she needed for her career; the college helped her prepare for the job of her choice.
“One of the greatest benefits of being in the Honor’s Program is that it helped me maneuver the job market,” Runkle said. “Southwest helped me transition from military life back into civilian life. The experience I gained through my career exploration fully prepared me for my job interviews and future career.”
Runkle also credits faculty and staff for helping her develop a work ethic she is proud of today. “I am grateful to the college and Honors Program for giving me the ability to develop relationships with faculty and staff that helped me along my professional journey. Thanks to their guidance and support, I learned to socialize, seek out relationships with my peers and complete my work in a timely manner. I am forever thankful for their expertise in helping me get career-ready!”
