Tracie Johnson named as Southwest’s new Registrar

Southwest Registrar Tracie Johnson
Welcome aboard to Tracie Johnson, Southwest’s new registrar in the division of Student Affairs. Johnson assumed her new position effective Oct. 3, 2022.
“I chose this position with Southwest because I saw that this institution believes everyone has an opportunity at creating their own educational goals,” Johnson said. “It means that I am responsible for upholding Southwest's mission, values, and goals. This is a responsibility that I am excited to lead. I welcome the growth that this position will provide me professionally and personally.”
As the head registrar, Johnson plans to implement new strategies that will increase the effectiveness of students receiving their transcripts in a timely manner, maintain accurate records for the College and provide excellent customer service.
She has 27 years of experience in the registrar’s office beginning with her time at the University of Memphis in Lambuth where she served as the first African American registrar in her hometown of Jackson, Tennessee. Jackson is where she also obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Lane College.
Previous to her new role at Southwest, Johnson served as a supervisor registrar at Lincoln Technical Institute in Nashville, Tennessee.
Johnson brings to the college an extensive knowledge in overseeing registration, creating student aids for online registration, supporting strategic enrollment management, managing student academic records and overseeing the production of official transcripts.
