Southwest Chief Financial Officer Jeannie Smith
Congratulations to Southwest’s Chief Financial Officer Jeannie Smith on her recognition as a Memphis Business Journal Chief Financial Officer of the Year finalist.
Every year, the Memphis Business Journal recognizes CFOs for their CFO of the Year awards, held this year on Oct. 25 at Theatre Memphis. Honorees are assembled after public nominations, and are divided into nonprofit, government/public sector, public company, and private company categories by the organization’s annual revenue.
“Our finance team works so hard to make this institution the best community college that serves our students and community population,” Smith said. “To be recognized for these efforts is very rewarding and means we are accomplishing our goals.”
Smith joined Southwest in 2019, a year before the Coronavirus pandemic erupted. She was instrumental in providing strong, outstanding leadership during the global pandemic implementing strategies to students, managing the college’s budget and ensuring that the institution was complying on a federal, state and local level.
“This is a very exciting time at Southwest as we begin our Focus 2025 Strategic Plan,” Smith said. “I am excited to see our plan come to fruition with results that will radiate throughout our region. We will be able to bridge socioeconomic gaps in education and achieve even greater heights in providing our students with stellar service and with the skilled, qualified workforce our Memphis community needs.”
Congratulations to Jeannie Smith on her nomination and to all the nominees and winners!
