Southwest wins Best Technical College and Best Career Seekers awards

Congratulations to Southwest on being named back-to-back winners of The Commercial Appeal’s Most of Memphis award for Best Technical/Trade School on Nov. 17, 2022 at the Renasant Convention Center in Memphis, Tenn.
This annual award is crowned through nominations and voting from the people of Memphis in the categories of beauty and health, education, clothing, dining, home services and finance and shopping.
“The Business and Technologies department at Southwest utilizes current technology and techniques to provide training and education that ensures our students are ready for the workforce,” said Dean of Business and Technologies Dr. Charles Baker. “Our commitment to our students and to the mission of the College drives us to continue to provide quality education at an affordable price now and in the future.”
Intelligent.com, an online resource guide for higher education institutions named Southwest a Best for Career Seekers college of all community colleges in Tennessee. Southwest’s job placement rating hovers around 98.5% and offers over 110 degrees and certificates that connects students to real-world applications and experiences.
“The Career Services team here at Southwest is dedicated in supporting the career development of current students and alumni while building partnerships with employers,” said Career Services Director Brenda Williams. “We want to provide our students with the best services in career assessment, resume building and review, mock interviews and job search services to find that professional career that suits them the best.”
Congratulations to Southwest’s staff for their work which contributed to the College receiving this local and national recognition.
