Congratulations to 37 of Southwest’s finest nurses who received their nursing pins during the College’s fall ceremony Dec. 9, 2022 at the Dr. Nathan Essex Nursing, Natural Sciences and Biotechnology Building.
Students earned their A.A.S. degree in nursing and will soon take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Interim Nursing Department Chair Dr. Marlon Gibson welcomed family, friends and loved ones of the graduates, who are one step closer to living out their dreams of becoming licensed nurses. “I can attest to all the hard work this cohort has put in to be here in this moment and I am exceedingly proud of each and every one of you,” he said.
Student speaker Jaquice Riley stood before her fellow classmates and guests, expounding on the journey they all have successfully endured together. “We had some tough times, sacrifices and long days and nights. Through it all, we made it. What you see are 37 different stories that represent our collective determination and drive to succeed. We all made it to this milestone together,” Riley said.
