Goode-Freeman new Gill Center director
Lamecia Goode-Freeman joined Southwest in 2003 as a temporary employee in the Admissions and Records department. Not long after, she joined the staff full-time and has served in various roles ranging from administrative assistant to financial aid specialist and most recently as the first professional academic advisor to serve at the Maxine Smith Center where she helped to increase enrollment significantly since 2016.
Goode-Freeman took on a new role Aug. 2 as the new director of the Gill Center, parlaying her nearly 20 years of experience in Student Affairs and Academic Affairs at Southwest. She welcomes the challenge. “I look forward to reintroducing the center to the Frayser community,” Good-Freeman said. “I am excited about growing the Gill Center into something amazing!”
Good-Freeman has been an active member of the Southwest family, serving as a S.M.A.R.T.S. Mentor and a TN Achieves mentor since the inception of the program in 2015. She also is a founding member of the Achieving the Dream committee. Goode-Freeman earned an Associate of Applied Science in Business Management from Southwest, a Bachelor of Professional Studies from The University of Memphis and is pursuing an MBA at Belhaven University.
Congratulations, Lamecia Goode-Freeman!
